Eastern Province Municipality launches Golden Ribbon Campaign to support children with cancer

In a humanitarian gesture reflecting the depth of community solidarity, the Eastern Province Municipality the "Golden Ribbon" campaign, a global awareness initiative aimed at supporting children battling cancer, by hosting an information booth for the "Sanad" Charitable Association at the municipality's headquarters. This initiative coincides with International Childhood Cancer Day , promoting community awareness and reinforcing the values ​​of human solidarity with this precious group.

Activating community partnerships and supporting young warriors

The Secretariat launched its awareness campaign by hosting an information booth for the initiative, aiming to highlight the suffering of children with cancer and their families, and to mobilize the necessary moral and psychological support for them. This step aims to familiarize all Secretariat staff and visitors with the campaign's noble message and encourage them to provide all available forms of support, reflecting the government sector's commitment to its social responsibility.

Symbolism of the gold ribbon and its universal dimension

The "gold ribbon" is the global symbol for childhood cancer awareness. The color gold was chosen to symbolize that children are more precious than gold, and to express their resilience and incredible ability to bravely fight the disease. This campaign is one of the leading global initiatives that takes place throughout February to raise awareness of critical health issues and unite international and local efforts to improve survival rates and quality of life for those affected.

Context of World Day and its strategic importance

This awareness campaign coincides with International Childhood Cancer Day, observed annually on February 15th. This day aims globally to support children and adolescents with cancer, cancer survivors, and their families. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's participation in these events is particularly significant within the framework of Vision 2030 , which places great emphasis on the health sector and the Quality of Life Program, in addition to empowering the non-profit sector (such as the Sanad Association) to play an active role in social development and supportive healthcare.
