The Ministry of Education abolishes regional spokespersons and adopts a centralized system

In a strategic move aimed at reshaping the educational media landscape and streamlining communication with the public, the Ministry of Education new organizational regulations, including a decisive decision to abolish the position of "official spokesperson" in all regional and provincial education departments. This decision restricts the authority to issue media statements and official announcements to the Ministry's central channels only, based on the latest edition of the Communications Governance Guide.
Details of the new regulations and cancellation of previous regulations
Under the new directives, the Ministry has rescinded all previous regulations contained in the Social Media Accounts Governance Guide issued in 1441 AH. The Ministry has replaced these regulations with a centralized and rigorous institutional communication system, aiming to end the era of multiple media outlets that previously prevailed and to prevent any discrepancies in media messaging or conflicting information between different educational sectors in various regions.
The new regulations explicitly prohibit any individual authorization to issue statements or media releases at the local level, emphasizing that communication decisions are now entirely centralized. This centralization aims to ensure the accuracy of information disseminated and to eliminate any grounds for personal interpretations that could negatively impact the ministry's public image or cause confusion within the educational field and among parents.
From platform management to message governance
The transformation wasn't limited to the administrative aspect; governance extended to include managing the institution's reputation and professionally producing digital content. This step represents a qualitative shift from the traditional operational concept of simply "managing accounts" to building a strategic communication system that supports educational decision-making with reliable and unified information.
The guide included precise standards for the governance of digital content, based primarily on compliance with national policies and the protection of information and data security, which raises the level of professionalism and enhances credibility in everything issued by the educational institution through its various platforms, and ensures that the educational discourse is consistent with the general directions of the state.
Crisis management and unifying the official voice
In response to emergencies, the Ministry of Education has established specific mechanisms for crisis communication, designating single official channels for addressing any developments. This measure aims to prevent leaks or unofficial interpretations that often cause confusion within educational and community circles during emergencies.
This decision is of paramount importance given the massive influx of information through social media networks, making a unified official source an urgent necessity to bolster public trust. By centralizing statements, the ministry ensures that accurate information reaches the public without distortion, reflecting a shift in administrative thinking towards greater discipline and institutionalization in government operations.
