Ihsan Platform: Leading the way in artificial intelligence for Saudi charitable work
Since its launch, the national platform for charitable work, “ Ihsan, ” has brought about an unprecedented transformation in the concept of giving within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, moving beyond traditional methods to a vast digital horizon based on the latest technologies. This platform is one of the fruits of the ambitious leadership that aims to promote the values of humanitarian work and develop the non-profit sector, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which seeks to increase the non-profit sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product.
Technological leadership led by “SDAIA”
Today, the “Ihsan” platform stands at the forefront of global charitable institutional models, thanks to the robust digital infrastructure developed by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority ( SDAIA ). SDAIA did not merely act as the technical operator; it harnessed the power of artificial intelligence and big data analytics to build an integrated system that ensures donations are directed to their rightful recipients with utmost precision. Among the most prominent of these efforts is the development of the “Eligibility Platform,” which automatically assesses beneficiaries' circumstances and connects them with supporting organizations. Additionally, heat maps are used to identify the most needy geographic areas, thus increasing the efficiency of charitable spending and maximizing its impact.
Support from leadership and blessed national campaigns
The platform enjoys the unwavering support of the wise leadership – may God protect them – as evidenced by their generous patronage of national charitable campaigns. The gracious approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God preserve him – to hold the sixth edition of the national campaign during Ramadan 1447 AH (February 2026 CE) reaffirms the continuity of this blessed approach. These campaigns are annual seasons of competition in good deeds, witnessing widespread participation from philanthropists, reflecting the cohesion of Saudi society and its commitment to giving and generosity.
Record numbers and high reliability
The platform has achieved remarkable growth in donation volume, with data indicating that total donations have exceeded 14 billion riyals through more than 330 million transactions since its inception, reflecting the significant trust it has garnered from the community. The year 2025 was described as exceptional due to the substantial increase in donations, which surpassed 4.5 billion riyals. The platform is distinguished by its rapid transaction processing, averaging four donations per second, supported by secure and instant digital payment solutions that allow donors to transparently track the impact of their donations.
Financial sustainability through the “Ihsan Endowment Fund”
To ensure the continuity of charitable giving, the platform launched the “Ihsan Endowment Fund,” a sustainable investment arm. Today, the fund is the largest publicly traded endowment fund in the Kingdom, with assets exceeding two billion riyals, generating substantial investment returns that contribute to supporting thousands of charitable organizations and financing development projects. This reinforces the concept of sustainability in charitable work and empowers beneficiaries, transforming them from recipients of aid to productive contributors to society.
