General context and religious significance of Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha is the second of the two major Islamic holidays and one of the most important religious observances, closely linked to the Hajj pilgrimage and the Day of Arafah. Its historical origins trace back to the story of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), making it a symbol of sacrifice, devotion, and obedience to God's commands. In Taif, historically known as the "City of Roses" and the capital of Arab summer resorts, the holiday takes on a special character. The spiritual atmosphere blends with the city's enchanting natural beauty and pleasant climate, making it a favorite destination for both locals and visitors to spend the Eid holiday and perform the Eid al-Adha prayer in peace and tranquility.

Local, regional and international impact of the event

Locally, Eid prayers and the gatherings that follow play a vital role in strengthening social bonds and kinship ties among the residents of Taif, as well as stimulating economic activity through livestock markets, the retail sector, and domestic tourism. Regionally and nationally, these extensive preparations reflect the commitment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under its wise leadership, to caring for mosques and providing the best services to citizens and residents, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to improve quality of life and promote Islamic values. Internationally, Eid prayers in Taif and throughout the Kingdom coincide with the celebrations of more than 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, as the eyes of the Islamic world turn to the Kingdom, which is home to the Two Holy Mosques and manages with unparalleled success the largest annual human gathering during the Hajj season, thus reaffirming its leading role and its profound spiritual significance in the hearts of Muslims.
