A drug dealer in Jazan was executed for the second time

The Saudi Ministry of Interior issued an official statement today announcing the execution of a convicted drug dealer in the Jazan region. This action is part of the Kingdom's ongoing and resolute efforts to combat the scourge of drugs and protect society from its grave dangers. The execution reaffirms the Kingdom's strict approach to applying Islamic law and applicable regulations against anyone who dares to threaten the security of the nation and the stability of its citizens.

Details of the crime and execution of the sentence

According to the Ministry's statement, the perpetrator, Jaber bin Yahya bin Hussein Al-Maliki, a Saudi national, committed the crime of trafficking hashish. This is his second offense of this type. Thanks to God and the vigilance of the security forces, the competent authorities were able to apprehend him. Following intensive investigations that confirmed his involvement and led to his indictment, he was referred to the competent court.

A legal ruling was issued against the perpetrator, confirming the charges against him and sentencing him to death by way of discretionary punishment (ta'zir) due to his repeat offense and the seriousness of his actions. The ruling became final after appeal and its confirmation by the Supreme Court, and a royal decree was issued ordering the execution of the legally mandated sentence. The sentence was carried out on Saturday, 28 Rajab 1447 AH, corresponding to January 17, 2026 CE, in the Jazan region.

The legal and religious context of punishment

The ruling was based on Islamic law, which prohibits corruption on earth. The statement cited verses from the Holy Quran emphasizing the severity of the punishment for those who wage war against God and His Messenger and spread corruption on earth. Drug trafficking is considered one of the most serious forms of corruption due to its devastating consequences, including the destruction of minds, the disintegration of families, and the loss of the nation's human and economic resources. The punishment of "execution as a discretionary punishment" in such cases serves to deter criminals and protect the five necessities guaranteed by Islamic law.

The Kingdom's efforts in the war on drugs

This operation comes within the framework of a comprehensive and ongoing security campaign launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against drug smugglers and traffickers. The wise leadership places great importance on combating drugs, considering it a fundamental pillar of national security. Security agencies in all regions, especially border areas such as Jazan, are working to monitor and thwart smuggling and trafficking attempts, utilizing the latest technologies and intelligence methods.

The Ministry of Interior, through this statement, emphasizes that strict legal punishment will be the fate of anyone involved in smuggling or promoting drugs, stressing the keenness of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to eradicate this scourge from its roots, and to protect the youth of the nation from falling into the clutches of addiction, which leads to the loss of innocent lives and the violation of rights.
