The death penalty was carried out against three citizens convicted of terrorism
The competent authorities announced the execution of three citizens, after they were found guilty of committing serious crimes affecting national security, which included manufacturing explosives and financing terrorist activities, in a step that confirms the state’s determination to eradicate the roots of terrorism and dry up its sources.
Specifically, security investigations revealed the perpetrators' involvement in joining terrorist organizations and working to achieve their criminal objectives by manufacturing explosive materials intended for use in operations aimed at destabilizing security and stability. They were also found to have collected funds and provided material and logistical support to finance these suspicious activities. The intensive investigations resulted in their indictment and referral to the Specialized Criminal Court.
In accordance with due process, judicial rulings were issued against the defendants, confirming the charges against them. They were sentenced to death by way of discretionary punishment (ta'zir) due to the heinous nature of their crime and its danger to society. The Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court upheld the ruling, and a royal decree was issued to enforce the legally mandated punishment. This reflects the precision and integrity of the judicial system and the fact that judgments pass through several levels of litigation to ensure complete justice.
This event comes within the context of the ongoing and intensive efforts exerted by security agencies to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The execution of this sentence also sends a clear and firm message to anyone who dares to tamper with the nation's security or engage with deviant ideologies, that the deterrent legal punishment will be their inevitable fate.
