Faisal bin Farhan and Al Busaidi discuss regional issues and bilateral relations
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed with His Excellency Mr. Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, the latest developments on the regional and international arenas, within the framework of continuous coordination and ongoing consultation between the two brotherly countries.
Details of the Saudi-Omani talks
During their discussions, the two sides addressed the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, and ways to strengthen and develop them across various fields to serve the interests of both brotherly nations. These talks are a continuation of the high-level diplomatic communication between Riyadh and Muscat, during which efforts were reviewed regarding several issues of common interest, with emphasis placed on the importance of joint Arab action to confront current challenges.
The depth of historical and strategic relations
Saudi-Omani relations are based on a deep historical legacy and strong fraternal ties, which have been significantly strengthened in recent years thanks to the guidance of the leadership of both countries. The Saudi-Omani Coordination Council is one of the most important pillars propelling these relations toward broader horizons, as the Council works to align bilateral strategies and enhance integration in political, security, and economic matters. The reciprocal visits between the leaders of the two countries, most notably the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince to Muscat, and the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to the Kingdom, are pivotal milestones that have solidified this strategic alliance.
Convergence of views on regional issues
Coordination between the two countries' foreign ministers is of particular importance given the delicate circumstances in the Middle East. Both Riyadh and Muscat play pivotal roles in strengthening the Gulf Cooperation Council and maintaining regional security and stability. The two countries share a common vision regarding the necessity of prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic solutions to end conflicts, especially concerning the Yemeni crisis, where both nations are exerting considerable efforts to achieve peace. Furthermore, they maintain a firm and unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian cause and the need to de-escalate tensions in the region to spare it the ravages of war.
Economic integration and visions for the future
Discussions between the two sides are not limited to the political sphere, but extend to the rapidly growing economic dimension, driven by the alignment of the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Oman’s Vision 2040. Both countries seek to maximize the benefits of promising investment opportunities and develop infrastructure, most notably the direct land route that has facilitated trade and transportation, reflecting a genuine desire to transform fraternal relations into a sustainable economic partnership that benefits the entire region.
