Faisal bin Farhan and Safadi discuss regional developments and Gaza

His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, to discuss the latest regional and international developments. The talks focused on ways to strengthen the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, as well as addressing issues of common interest, particularly the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East.
During the discussion, both sides emphasized the need to intensify Arab and international efforts to halt the escalation in the region, with particular focus on the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The two ministers stressed the importance of joint coordination to ensure the protection of civilians and the necessity for the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities towards the just causes in the region, and to work diligently towards establishing a genuine political horizon that guarantees lasting security and stability.
The depth of Saudi-Jordanian relations and a history of coordination
These talks come within the framework of ongoing and continuous coordination between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, given the deep historical and strategic ties between Riyadh and Amman that extend back decades. These relations are characterized by a convergence of views on most of the region's complex issues, particularly regarding support for joint Arab action and confronting the security and political challenges facing the region.
Both countries play a pivotal role in leading Arab diplomacy. Saudi Arabia, with its Islamic, economic, and political weight, and Jordan, with its geostrategic location and historical role as the Hashemite custodian of the holy sites in Jerusalem, together form a cornerstone of stability in the Middle East. The two countries have consistently held regular consultations to unify the Arab position in the face of crises, from the Palestinian issue to regional security matters and the fight against terrorism.
The importance of coordination in light of international changes
This coordination between Faisal bin Farhan and Safadi is of paramount importance given the current global circumstances, marked by sharp polarization and significant geopolitical shifts on the international stage. Unifying the Saudi and Jordanian positions directly contributes to forging a strong, unified Arab stance capable of influencing international decisions, particularly within the United Nations and the Security Council.
Regionally, cooperation between Riyadh and Amman serves as a safeguard against the escalation of conflicts, as both sides consistently prioritize dialogue and diplomatic solutions. These discussions are expected to bolster efforts to advance the peace process in accordance with international frameworks and the Arab Peace Initiative, thereby guaranteeing the rights of the people and preserving the security, economic stability, and social well-being of the region's nations.
