The Foreign Ministry welcomes the second phase of the Gaza peace plan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the official announcement of the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan, which includes the formation of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip as a temporary transitional body, in implementation of Security Council Resolution 2803. This welcome comes within the framework of supporting international efforts aimed at ending the humanitarian suffering in the Strip and putting an end to the military operations that have drained the region.
The Ministry also welcomed US President Donald Trump's announcement of the establishment of the "Peace Council," commending his leadership role and tireless efforts to end the war in Gaza. It praised the declared commitments regarding the withdrawal of the Israeli army and the explicit pledge to prevent the annexation of any parts of the West Bank, which it considers a crucial step towards achieving stability, preventing the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, and advancing the path to a sustainable peace in the Middle East.
The importance of regional role and international mediation
In a related context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the intensive diplomatic efforts led by mediators from the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Turkey. These efforts culminate a long and arduous negotiation process aimed at preventing further escalation in the region. Regional coordination plays a crucial role in creating a conducive environment for implementing the peace plan and ensuring all parties adhere to its provisions, reflecting an international and regional desire to end the conflict.
The tasks of the Palestinian National Committee and the future of the sector
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the paramount importance of supporting the work of the Palestinian National Interim Committee, enabling it to fulfill its responsibilities in managing the daily lives of Gaza Strip residents during this critical period. The Ministry emphasized the necessity of preserving the close institutional and geographical ties between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, considering them a single geographical unit. It categorically rejected any plans aimed at dividing Palestinian territory or isolating Gaza from its national context, affirming that the unity of Palestinian land is a fundamental pillar of any future political solution.
The Ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing the need for a permanent ceasefire and an immediate end to all violations, while ensuring the continuous and unconditional flow of humanitarian and relief aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip to save lives. It called for the swift launch of early recovery and reconstruction efforts, paving the way for the Palestinian National Authority to resume its full responsibilities, ultimately leading to the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international law, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the two-state solution.
