Medina: 6,000 meters of luxury carpets for historical mosques

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, represented by its branch in the Madinah region, has begun implementing a unique and distinguished project aimed at refurnishing and equipping a number of prominent historical mosques located on the western side of the Prophet's Mosque. This project targets a total area of approximately 6,000 square meters, which will be covered with the finest luxury carpets, as part of a comprehensive strategic plan to prepare historical Islamic sites and provide a spiritual and faith-filled atmosphere befitting the pilgrims and visitors to the city of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Exceptional care for the Prophet's landmarks
The renovation and complete refurbishment included three of the most important historical landmarks associated with the Prophet's noble life and the glorious history of Islam: the Al-Ghamama Mosque , the Mosque of Caliph Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq , and the Mosque of Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib . These mosques hold immense significance. The Al-Ghamama Mosque is the site where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, performed the Eid prayer and the prayer for rain, and it was named so because a cloud shaded him during his prayers. The mosques of the two Rightly Guided Caliphs stand as living testaments to the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs and are adjacent to the Prophet's Mosque, making them prime destinations for visitors seeking to experience the richness of Islamic history.
High-quality technical specifications
In this project, the Ministry ensured the selection of the finest locally made carpets, distinguished by their high technical and aesthetic specifications and a weave density that guarantees their durability and ability to withstand high volumes of worshippers, while providing maximum comfort for them. This step directly contributes to enhancing the operational readiness of these landmarks, which witness a continuous influx of visitors from around the world.
Strategic and developmental
The importance of this project extends beyond its operational aspects, aligning with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Guests of God Service Program, which aims to enrich the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims and visitors. The care given to these historic mosques in the central area surrounding the Prophet's Mosque reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to preserving the historical identity of Medina and presenting a distinguished image of the services provided at the Two Holy Mosques and their surrounding sites.
These works come in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh, who is following up on the projects to improve the environment of mosques and grand mosques on the ground, and constantly stressing the need to take care of the houses of God, especially those that have a deep Islamic historical dimension, to ensure that they perform their noble mission of receiving worshippers and visitors in the best possible condition.
