This meeting comes at a crucial time, as the world faces rapidly evolving geopolitical challenges. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen Gulf-Ukrainian relations and propel them towards broader horizons in service of their shared interests. The talks focused on reviewing existing areas of cooperation and exploring new partnership opportunities across various sectors, particularly given the growing interest in developing relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council and Eastern European countries.

The importance of timing and location

This meeting is of particular importance given that it is being held under the auspices of the Munich Security Conference, the world's foremost platform for discussing international security policies. The GCC's participation in this international forum underscores the Gulf states' commitment to being active participants in shaping the global dialogue on security and stability. In turn, Kyiv views the GCC countries as an important strategic partner in the Middle East region and as a significant economic and political power that can contribute to strengthening regional and international stability.

The role of the Gulf Cooperation Council in international affairs

Over the past years, the Gulf states have demonstrated their ability to play pivotal roles in mediation and bridging differences on numerous complex issues, in addition to their ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian aid and support initiatives aimed at easing global tensions.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the need for continued coordination and consultation between the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council and the Ukrainian side, in order to ensure the fulfillment of the aspirations of both sides in building strong and sustainable relations that contribute to strengthening international peace and security.
