How to issue a resident's length of stay report via Absher in 5 steps
As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts toward digital transformation and the automation of government services, the Ministry of Interior's "Absher" electronic platform continues to provide innovative technological solutions aimed at facilitating the lives of citizens and residents. These services align with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance the efficiency of government operations and reduce reliance on paper transactions, thus saving beneficiaries time and effort and eliminating the need to visit government branches and offices to complete routine transactions.

Absher Reports Service: 7 Official Documents
The reporting services are not limited to the duration of stay only, but the “Absher Reports” service allows users to view and print 7 different types of reports approved for use in official bodies, which are:
- My data report (beneficiary).
- Family member data report.
- Vehicle registration report.
- Traffic violation report.
- Traffic accident report.
- Travel log data report.
- Domestic worker report.
National ID photo requirements
In a related matter concerning civil services, the Ministry of Interior's Civil Status Agency has established precise technical standards for accepting personal photos when renewing national identity cards through the online platform, in order to ensure the quality of official documents. These standards include the following:
- The background should be completely white.
- The photo must be recent (no more than 6 months have passed since it was taken).
- Clear facial features, free from exaggerated expressions or cosmetics that alter the features.
- The image should be free of ink stains, holes, or technical defects.
- Take the picture straight while avoiding the “red-eye” effect caused by the camera flash.
Online name change service
The Civil Status Department has also made available an online service for changing first names via the “Absher” platform for citizens and their family members (those under 18 years of age), subject to specific regulations aimed at organizing civil name records. The service is free of charge and allows two modifications (the second modification is for reverting to the previous name only).
Timeframe for implementation:
- Immediate: If the new name is among the lists of names previously known to the Civil Status Department.
- 5 working days: If the name is not identified, it requires review and verification.
The service requires that the new name conforms to the standards for name registration, and that it is not similar to the name of a first-degree family member, in addition to parental consent in the case of changing the name of minor children.
