Classes in Najran will be suspended tomorrow, Monday, due to bad weather conditions

Najran University and the General Directorate of Education in the Najran region officially announced the suspension of in-person classes for tomorrow, Monday, and the conversion of the educational process to “remote” in response to reports received from the National Center for Meteorology, which warned of a dust storm affecting the region’s atmosphere and a decrease in horizontal visibility.

Details of the decision to suspend studies in Najran

Najran University clarified that the decision includes the university's main campus and all its branches, where lectures will be transferred to a virtual classroom system via the Blackboard platform. In a related context, the Najran Education Department confirmed that the suspension of in-person classes includes all schools in Najran city, in addition to the governorates of Khubash, Thar, Habuna, Badr Al-Janoub, Yadma, and Sharurah. Students will continue their educational journey through the "My School" platform to ensure the continuity of the educational process without interruption, and to safeguard the health of all school staff, including teachers, administrators, and students.

The role of the National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning

This decision is based on alerts issued by the Early Warning System of the National Center for Meteorology, the official body authorized to monitor and track weather conditions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These reports play a vital role in proactive decision-making by government agencies, as various regions of the Kingdom experience seasonal weather fluctuations, including active surface winds that stir up dust and sand. This necessitates taking precautionary measures to protect public health, especially for those with respiratory conditions, and to avoid traffic accidents resulting from reduced visibility.

Safety priority and flexibility in digital education

The Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia prioritizes the safety of students, granting education directors in regions and governorates the authority to suspend in-person classes based on weather conditions. This measure reflects the high degree of flexibility within the Kingdom's education system, which has successfully built a robust digital infrastructure over the past years. E-learning platforms such as "Madrasati" and "Blackboard" have proven their efficiency in accommodating millions of students simultaneously, making the shift to distance learning a viable strategic option that ensures the continuity of education under any emergency circumstances. This represents a significant leap forward in educational crisis management compared to previous years.
