Presidential Leadership Council member and Governor of Hadramawt, Mr. Salem bin Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their continued fraternal and humanitarian support to the Yemeni people in various fields. This came during his meeting in Al-Mukalla with Abdulaziz bin Malik Bawazir, supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's coordination unit in the governorate, in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Hassan Al-Jilani.
Background of Saudi support in Yemen
This support comes in the context of the historic role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting Yemen, which has been greatly strengthened since the outbreak of the Yemeni crisis in 2014. The Kingdom established the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid in May 2015 to be the Kingdom’s international humanitarian arm, with the aim of unifying and coordinating relief efforts and providing assistance to affected communities around the world, with a special focus on alleviating human suffering in Yemen, which the United Nations has described as one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
Humanitarian and development projects in Hadramawt
During the meeting, Bawazir reviewed the package of humanitarian, development, and relief projects implemented by the center in Hadramawt Governorate. These projects cover several vital sectors, including health, water and sanitation, food security, education, and livelihood support. They aim to improve the living conditions of citizens, including those displaced from other conflict zones, and contribute to the stability of the governorate, which is considered one of the most relatively stable in Yemen.

Governor Al-Khanbashi emphasized the critical importance of these interventions, which directly address the needs of citizens, and commended the professional mechanism employed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. He noted that this support extends beyond emergency relief to include sustainable development projects that contribute to rebuilding infrastructure and strengthening community resilience. At the regional and international levels, this support reflects the Kingdom's commitment to achieving stability in Yemen and its active contribution to international efforts aimed at ending the humanitarian crisis.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Khanbashi reiterated the local authority’s commitment in Hadhramaut to providing all necessary facilities to the King Salman Relief Center’s teams, ensuring the success of its interventions and the delivery of aid to those who deserve it throughout the governorate, considering these efforts as embodying the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
