The historical context of organizing Hajj seasons

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, attaches paramount importance to organizing the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam, which attracts millions of Muslims from around the world annually. Over the decades, the Kingdom has invested in massive infrastructure projects to facilitate the performance of the rituals, including historic expansions of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, the development of the Holy Sites (Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah), the construction of the multi-level Jamarat Bridge, the Al-Mashaaer Metro, and other projects aimed at enhancing crowd management and ensuring the safety and comfort of pilgrims. The Permanent Hajj Committee serves as the primary coordinating body, bringing together all governmental and private sectors to unify efforts and achieve the highest levels of operational efficiency.

Strategic importance and alignment with Vision 2030

These organizational efforts align with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to enrich the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah. The success of the Hajj season not only enhances the Kingdom's standing on the Islamic and international stage but also has a significant economic and social impact domestically, providing thousands of seasonal job opportunities and stimulating economic activity in Makkah and Madinah.
