Pilgrims departing in 1445 AH via Al-Wadi'ah border crossing: Simplified procedures

Following the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage for the year 1445 AH, the passport control office at the Al-Wadi'ah border crossing in the Najran region began processing the departure of the pilgrims who were blessed to perform the fifth pillar of Islam. This process is the culmination of the significant efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure a successful Hajj season, with procedures proceeding smoothly and efficiently thanks to prior preparations and qualified personnel.

The General Directorate of Passports announced its full readiness at all of the Kingdom's international ports of entry—land, air, and sea—to receive departing pilgrims and facilitate their safe return home. The Al-Wadi'ah border crossing, which connects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen, is one of the most important land crossings, experiencing high traffic volumes of pilgrims, particularly from Yemen and neighboring countries, making it a pivotal point in the pilgrim movement and departure plans.

Al-Wadi'ah border crossing: The gateway for the safe return of pilgrims

The Al-Wadi'ah border crossing holds strategic and historical importance. It has never been merely a border crossing, but a vital lifeline and safe passage for thousands of Yemeni pilgrims traveling to perform their religious rites. Over the years, the Kingdom's government has invested in developing the crossing's infrastructure and equipping it with the latest technologies to enhance its operational efficiency. These upgrades include advanced electronic systems for verifying travel documents, biometric detection devices, and dedicated lanes for buses and vehicles, all of which contribute to reducing waiting times and ensuring smooth traffic flow, even during peak hours.

Integrated efforts to facilitate the departure of the pilgrims

The successful departure of pilgrims is not solely attributable to the efforts of the Passport Department, but rather the result of a comprehensive system involving various governmental, security, and service agencies. These agencies work in close coordination to provide all forms of support to departing pilgrims, from health and ambulance services to logistical support, the provision of drinking water and meals, and ensuring the safety and security of pilgrim convoys on the roads leading to the border crossing. The General Directorate of Passports emphasized the importance of pilgrims and Hajj tour operators adhering to the departure dates specified in their visas to avoid any delays and ensure the process is organized optimally. It called upon everyone to cooperate with the authorities to ensure a successful return journey, just as successful as the arrival journey.
