Hajj security forces succeed: Violators decreased by 44% in the 1447 season
In a new security achievement reflecting ongoing developments in crowd management, the Commander of Hajj Security Forces, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Bassami, announced a 44% decrease in the total number of violators and those deported during the 1447 AH Hajj season. This announcement was made during a press conference held by Hajj Security Forces leaders, where the security and organizational plans adopted in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership and under the close supervision of His Royal Highness the Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, were reviewed.
Historical context and ongoing efforts to serve the guests of God
Historically, since its founding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed great importance and meticulous care on ensuring the safety of pilgrims to the Holy Mosque in Mecca. With the increasing number of pilgrims year after year, the Hajj security system has undergone a radical transformation, moving from traditional methods to employing the latest global technologies. This development reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for the guests of God, which aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance the quality of services provided to pilgrims and facilitate the hosting of millions of Muslims from around the world.
Integrated Hajj security system for the 1447 AH season
Brigadier General Al-Bassami explained that the Hajj security system this year operates with complete integration among all security, service, and governmental agencies. This coordination is overseen by the Supreme Hajj Committee to ensure clear roles, real-time information exchange, and a unified operational approach. Detailed operational plans have been adopted for each stage of Hajj, starting with the arrival of pilgrims, through the Day of Tarwiyah, the ascent to Arafat, the departure to Muzdalifah, and culminating in the days of Tashreeq and the departure phase. These plans focus on managing crowd density and allocating safe pathways within vital facilities, most notably the Jamarat facility and the Mataf (circumambulation area).
Using technology and artificial intelligence in crowd management
In a move reflecting the digital transformation, the commander of the Hajj security forces revealed the deployment of modern technologies and smart data to support field decision-making. This includes the use of advanced aerial surveillance and real-time data analysis within the Grand Mosque and the holy sites. These technologies not only support human efforts but also contribute to reducing response times to any emergency, thus enhancing crowd management efficiency in high-density areas and ensuring smooth traffic flow on the roads leading to Mecca.
The local and international impact of successful security plans
This security success is of paramount importance on several levels. Domestically, it demonstrates the Saudi security forces' ability to efficiently handle complex logistical challenges, thus bolstering confidence in the Kingdom's infrastructure. Regionally and internationally, it sends a reassuring message to the entire Muslim world regarding the safety of its citizens and reinforces the Kingdom's position as a leading global model in managing large crowds and gatherings.
Indicators of success and adherence to regulations
Field indicators showed a marked improvement in pilgrims' adherence to regulations compared to previous years. In addition to a 44% decrease in violations, fraudulent Hajj campaigns also declined by 13%, with hundreds of unlicensed campaigns being shut down and violators returned. Al-Bassami emphasized that these positive figures are a result of strict enforcement of regulations, effective proactive measures, and increased awareness among pilgrims regarding the importance of obtaining official permits.
In closing, Brigadier General Al-Bassami urged everyone to fully comply with the regulations, warning against falling prey to fraudulent campaigns or attempting to enter Mecca illegally. He emphasized that the safety of the Hajj is a shared responsibility, beginning with the pilgrim's awareness and commitment, and complemented by the tireless efforts of the government, which works around the clock to provide the best services and enhance the spiritual experience for the guests of God.
