The Human Rights Association praises the integrated Hajj services for the pilgrims

The National Society for Human Rights in Saudi Arabia commended the high standard and remarkable integration of services provided to pilgrims during this year's Hajj season. This came as part of the Society's field monitoring and evaluation of all aspects related to guaranteeing pilgrims' rights and facilitating their performance of rituals in Mecca and the holy sites.

Historical background and importance of the Hajj season

Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, representing a profound spiritual journey undertaken by millions of Muslims from around the world to Mecca once in a lifetime for those who are able. Historically, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has placed paramount importance on serving pilgrims. This service has evolved over decades into a massive administrative and logistical system, one of the largest crowd management operations in the world. The success of each Hajj season not only reflects organizational efficiency but also carries significant religious and political weight, reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a leader of the Islamic world.

Comprehensive field monitoring of human rights

The association's field team began its monitoring work from the very first stages of the pilgrims' arrival. These monitoring tours included observing the smooth flow of arrival and movement procedures, assessing the quality of their accommodations, ensuring a suitable environment for their stay, and verifying the availability of safety and security measures. The association emphasized that early preparedness and collaboration between various governmental and private sectors significantly contributed to enhancing the level of organization and facilitating pilgrims' access to essential services related to performing the Hajj rituals, such as healthcare, guidance, and transportation.

The impact of outstanding services on the faith experience

Providing a safe and comfortable environment for pilgrims has a direct impact on their spiritual experience. The association monitored the availability of essential services such as water, shaded areas, and general hygiene, as well as the support services provided to the elderly and people with disabilities, and the extent to which these services are accessible to them, enabling them to perform their rituals with dignity and peace of mind. The association also monitored the utilization of technological and digital services, such as guidance applications and the smart pilgrim card, which have significantly facilitated the pilgrim's experience during their movement and access to information and services.

Statement by the President of the Association

In this context, the President of the National Society for Human Rights, Professor Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Fakhri, stated: “The comprehensive services provided to pilgrims during the Hajj season reflect a continuous commitment to creating an environment that enables pilgrims to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility, and reinforces their right to safety, care, and access to services.” He noted that the early preparedness and integrated services observed by the Society’s field team have positively impacted the overall experience of pilgrims this season. He emphasized that the Society’s monitoring stems from its role in observing aspects related to human rights, including the right to safety, access to care, and the performance of rituals in an environment that preserves human dignity.
