Iftar meals for fasting people in the Two Holy Mosques: Digital governance through Ihsan and Nusuk

The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced the launch of a modern, documented digital mechanism to organize the Iftar program for fasting worshippers at the Two Holy Mosques during the holy month of Ramadan. This initiative comes as part of a strategic partnership with the national charitable platform "Ihsan" and the "Nusk" Foundation, aiming to build an integrated system that strengthens the principles of governance and transparency, and enhances the efficiency of the operational processes for this great religious duty.

Registration and implementation mechanism

The journey to contribute to this great cause begins with individuals and non-profit organizations registering through the Authority's official website, followed by payment of the allocated funds for meals via the "Ihsan" platform. The options have been made highly flexible: individuals are credited with the equivalent of one meal consisting of 25 or 50 meals, depending on the donor's preference, while non-profit organizations are limited to a minimum of ten meals for men and ten for women, to ensure the efficient use of space within the Two Holy Mosques.

After the site selection, meal allocation, and payment processes are finalized, the Nusk Humanitarian Foundation manages the operational and contractual aspects between the implementing partners and the donors. Once the procedures are complete, the final permit is issued, and the donor is notified of all the details of the implementing company, ensuring the work proceeds with utmost precision.

The importance of governance and digital transformation

This step is of paramount importance within the context of Saudi Arabia's digital transformation under Vision 2030, as it aims to regulate and channel charitable work through official and reliable channels. The Iftar project at the Two Holy Mosques is one of the largest Iftar gatherings in the world, bringing together millions of Muslims from all corners of the globe. This awe-inspiring event necessitated meticulous organization to ensure the smooth flow of crowds, maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the venue, and guarantee the safety of the food provided to the pilgrims.

Enhancing transparency and reliability

The tripartite collaboration between the Authority, the Ihsan platform, and the Nusk Foundation forms an institutional framework that ensures donations reach their intended recipients according to the highest quality standards. To enhance trust, the new mechanism allows donors the option of personally attending to oversee and monitor the distribution process. In the event that attendance is not possible, the implementing entity is committed to sending periodic reports, documented with photos and data, detailing the number of beneficiaries and the distribution mechanisms. This achieves a sustainable social impact and strengthens the sense of security among those contributing to this charitable endeavor.

These measures are not limited to the organizational aspect, but reflect a bright civilized image of serving the guests of God, and confirm the Kingdom’s continuous keenness to harness all technologies and capabilities to serve the visitors of the Two Holy Mosques and facilitate their comfort during the holy month.
