Assistant Interior Minister's visit to the 911 Security Operations Center
Inspection tour to enhance the technical security system
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the security system and improve services provided to citizens, residents, and pilgrims, the Assistant Minister of Interior for Technology Affairs, Engineer Thamer bin Mohammed Al-Harbi, conducted an important inspection visit to the Unified Security Operations Center 911 in the Makkah region. He was received by the Commander of the National Security Operations Center, Brigadier General Omar bin Ayda Al-Talhi. The visit aimed to assess the center's technical and operational readiness and ensure the provision of the highest levels of service.
Reviewing workflow and modern technologies
During the visit, His Excellency Engineer Thamer Al-Harbi conducted a comprehensive field tour of the center's various departments. He was briefed directly on the daily workflow and how incoming reports and communications are handled. He also received a detailed explanation of the rapid referral of these reports to the relevant authorities and their meticulous and professional follow-up until resolution. Emphasis was placed on the use of the latest standardized technologies to ensure the provision of high-quality services to pilgrims, available in multiple international languages and 24 hours a day, reflecting the significant advancements in the Ministry of Interior's technological infrastructure.
Historical context of the Unified Operations Centers project
It is worth noting the historical and general context of this massive national project. The establishment of the Unified Security Operations Center 911 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was one of the most important strategic initiatives of the Ministry of Interior, closely aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to improve quality of life and enhance security and safety. The Makkah region was the initial nucleus and starting point for this pioneering project, where the center was launched to serve the Holy City and 16 governorates within the region, serving as a model to be later replicated in the rest of the Kingdom.
The importance of the center and its direct impact on response speed
The crucial importance of the Unified Security Operations Center (911) in Mecca lies in its exceptional ability to unify security efforts. The center successfully integrated and consolidated the work of 47 previously disparate operations rooms, bringing all operations together in one location under a single emergency number: 911. This strategic integration allows for the handling of all emergency calls from various security and service agencies, resulting in a significant improvement in response times and an unprecedented reduction in the time required to process reports.
Regional and international impact on crowd management
Regionally and internationally, this center serves as a model for crowd management and emergency response, particularly during Hajj and Umrah seasons, which witness the influx of millions of Muslims from around the world. Providing an integrated communication system that supports multiple languages and operates using the latest technologies directly contributes to enhancing the peace of mind of pilgrims and reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's distinguished image in its ability to harness cutting-edge global technologies to serve humanity and protect lives and property.
