Islamic Affairs' efforts during Hajj to promote Sharia awareness
The efforts of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs during Hajj to serve the guests of God
As pilgrims begin arriving in Mecca for this year's Hajj, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs is intensifying its efforts in Hajj through enhanced outreach and guidance programs. The Ministry, represented by the General Secretariat for Islamic Awareness in Hajj, Umrah, and Visitation, announced the launch of a comprehensive package of awareness programs and services within the prayer rooms of hotels surrounding the Grand Mosque. This proactive step aims to ensure pilgrims can perform their rituals with understanding and peace of mind, in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah.
The historical context of serving pilgrims in the Kingdom
Historically, since its founding, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has undertaken the honor of serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors. The system of religious guidance has evolved over the decades; from being limited to direct instruction at the holy sites, it has become a comprehensive institutional system that begins at the pilgrims' arrival points and continues until their departure. This development reflects the wise leadership's commitment to harnessing all human and material resources to serve Islam and Muslims, and it is a continuation of a long-standing approach to caring for the guests of God and facilitating their spiritual journey.
Integrated field services and multilingual awareness campaigns
The awareness programs offered in the prayer areas focus on enhancing pilgrims' religious understanding through a select group of qualified preachers and translators. These integrated field services include daily lessons explaining the rituals and rulings of Hajj, as well as sermons and guidance sessions that reinforce faith-based values. Recognizing the diverse nationalities and cultures of the pilgrims, the Ministry provides translators fluent in several international languages to translate the lessons and sermons after prayers, ensuring that the awareness messages are conveyed clearly and professionally. These translators also answer pilgrims' inquiries related to religious practices and explain the virtues of Mecca and the holy sites.
Utilizing modern technology to achieve Vision 2030
On the technological awareness front, the Ministry has taken significant steps by activating a number of modern digital tools. These efforts included broadcasting religious and awareness messages in several languages via electronic screens located within the prayer areas and around the Grand Mosque in Mecca. This digital approach comes within the framework of employing modern technology to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to enrich the religious and cultural experience of pilgrims, facilitate procedures, and provide high-quality services based on innovation and digitalization.
Importance and impact: locally, regionally, and internationally
The importance of these efforts extends beyond the local level to encompass broad regional and international impacts. Locally, this awareness campaign contributes to organizing crowd movement and facilitating the smooth performance of rituals, thus reducing stampedes and violations of religious or legal regulations. Regionally and internationally, the Kingdom presents a global model to be emulated in managing and spiritually and culturally guiding millions of pilgrims. These programs also contribute to spreading the values of moderation, tolerance, and compassion among Muslims from all corners of the earth, thereby strengthening Islamic unity and countering extremist ideologies.
Integrating efforts to achieve the leadership's aspirations
These achievements embody the integration of field services and modern technological solutions provided by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. These efforts are in implementation of the directives and follow-up of His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, and in fulfillment of the aspirations of the wise leadership to provide the highest quality services to the pilgrims, enabling them to perform their rituals with ease and tranquility, and return to their countries laden with the most beautiful spiritual memories.
