The Jeddah Championship 2026 will provide 400 jobs and Al-Taawoun will be crowned champions
The Jeddah 2026 football tournament achieved remarkable success, extending beyond the competitive sporting aspect to encompass significant developmental and social dimensions. The tournament served as a vital platform for empowering young Saudi talent. This pioneering step involved engaging young Saudi men and women in fieldwork and event management, reflecting the sports sector's commitment to contributing to national development goals.
Empowering youth and providing job opportunities
In a statement reflecting the magnitude of this achievement, the CEO of the tournament organizers, Iyad Bin Jaidah, revealed that the event successfully provided over 400 seasonal jobs for young men and women from Jeddah. These opportunities spanned a variety of vital fields requiring specialized skills, such as logistics management, journalism and media, sports organization, crowd management, public relations, and support services. This diversity of roles offers young people invaluable practical, hands-on experience in a professional work environment.
Alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This initiative is a practical implementation of the pillars of Saudi Vision 2030, specifically those related to the Quality of Life Program and youth empowerment. Investing in young talent and involving them in organizing local sporting events is a cornerstone for developing a generation capable of managing major international competitions. With the Kingdom's plans to host continental and global championships in the near future, these local tournaments become a valuable training ground for honing national skills in the sports and entertainment industry.
High-level governmental and official support
This success would not have been possible without the significant logistical and moral support from various official bodies. The championship received sponsorship and attention from the Makkah Region Governorate, sound guidance from the Jeddah Governorate, and continuous on-site monitoring from the Ministry of Sports branch in the region. This collaboration between government agencies and the sports sector highlights the importance of integrated efforts to ensure the success of events that serve the nation's youth.
The crowning of the champions at the end of the scene
On the technical front, the tournament witnessed a thrilling finale at the King Abdullah Sports City (The Shining Jewel) auxiliary stadium. The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, in the presence of the Governor of Jeddah, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, and the Minister of Sport, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal. His Highness presented the championship trophy to Al-Taawon FC of Jeddah after their well-deserved 1-0 victory over Salam Al-Jami’ah FC, bringing to a close an event that combined exciting football with community benefit.
