Jeddah's readiness for the Hajj season: Integrated municipal services for pilgrims
A comprehensive operational plan to ensure the comfort of pilgrims
The Jeddah Municipality, represented by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, announced the completion of its integrated municipal system's readiness to receive and serve pilgrims during the 1445 AH Hajj season. These extensive preparations are part of comprehensive national efforts to ensure the provision of the highest quality services and facilitate the pilgrims' journey from the moment they arrive through Jeddah's main entry points until their departure to the holy sites.
As part of its operational plan, the Secretariat mobilized its human and logistical resources, deploying over 6,000 trained personnel and more than 700 pieces of modern equipment and machinery. Emergency teams were also formed to operate around the clock, providing immediate support to field operations and ensuring a rapid response to any reports, thus guaranteeing the continuity of municipal services with high efficiency. These efforts included preparing and equipping vital sites and main roads leading to Mecca, as well as preparing the areas surrounding the Yalamlam and Al-Juhfah Miqats within the governorates of Al-Lith and Rabigh, to ensure they are fully ready to receive pilgrims.
Jeddah... the historical gateway to the Two Holy Mosques
Jeddah's preparations are of particular importance given its strategic location as a major gateway to the Two Holy Mosques. Throughout history, Jeddah has been the primary transit point for pilgrims arriving from around the world, especially through its seaport and international airport, which is one of the busiest during the Hajj season. This historical role places a significant responsibility on the city's service providers to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and provide a safe and comfortable environment for the millions of pilgrims who pass through it annually. These efforts reflect the Kingdom's long-standing experience in crowd management and organizing Hajj seasons, which continues to improve year after year thanks to meticulous planning and the use of cutting-edge technologies.
Strict health and food safety controls
On the regulatory front, the Jeddah Municipality intensified its field inspections of food, commercial, and health establishments to ensure their compliance with the highest safety standards. These inspections covered more than 2,850 establishments, including restaurants, markets, shopping centers, hotels, and furnished apartments. The inspections resulted in high levels of compliance, reflecting the Municipality's commitment to the health and safety of pilgrims. To enhance effective communication, the Municipality emphasized the readiness of its digital channels, such as the "Baladi" application and the unified number 940, to receive and address reports and complaints as quickly as possible.
National and international impact translates Vision 2030
The importance of these preparations extends beyond the local level to encompass regional and international dimensions. The successful management of the Hajj season in Jeddah enhances the reputation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a nation capable of efficiently and effectively organizing and managing the world's largest human gatherings. These efforts are part of a comprehensive national system encompassing Mecca, Medina, and the Holy Sites, and align with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to enrich the religious experience of pilgrims and provide them with exceptional services. Ensuring a safe and accessible Hajj journey reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to serving Islam and Muslims worldwide.
