Sports and Education qualified for the round of 16 of the Jeddah 2026 Championship

The Jeddah Football Championship 2026 witnessed dramatic developments and fiery confrontations, resulting in the selection of new places in the round of 16, as the Ministry of Sports team and the Jeddah Governorate Education Department team snatched the two tickets to pass from Group (A) after a breathtaking match that ended in a positive draw, reflecting the high technical level of the teams participating in this edition.

Group A summit: A draw that feels like a victory

In a closely contested and exciting match at the Jeddah Olympic Village stadium, the Ministry of Sports team drew 2-2 with the Jeddah Education Department team. The game saw a flurry of goals, with Abdulrahman Omar and Khalid Mohammed scoring for the Education Department, delivering a remarkable performance that reflected their excellent preparation for the tournament. The Ministry of Sports' goals came from Mustafa Mohammed, in addition to an own goal by Abdulmajid Al-Ghamdi.

This result gave each team a valuable point, raising their tally to 4 points each, which was enough to announce their qualification together to the round of 16, with the advantage of the Ministry of Sports team, which topped the group on goal difference, to confirm its status as one of the candidates to compete for the title.

Group (E): The hedgehog strikes hard

In a related development within Group E, Al-Qunfudhah – BH secured their place in the Round of 16 after a resounding and well-deserved 4-1 victory over Al-Tamooh (Makkah). Ali Al-Suhaimi, Mohammed Saleh, and Ibrahim Al-Mahdawi each scored for Al-Qunfudhah, along with an own goal by Siraj Mohammed. Hashim Mohammed scored a consolation goal for Al-Tamooh. With this win, Al-Qunfudhah joins Al-Ustoura (Makkah) in the next round.
