The Governor of Jeddah attends the closing ceremony of the first research conference for Makkah universities

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah, attended the closing ceremony of the "First Research Conference for University Students in Makkah Region." Jeddah University hosted this prominent academic event, which was also attended by His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council of University Affairs, Professor Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, along with a distinguished group of academic and research leaders from the region.

Strengthening the research and innovation system

This conference is a strategic step aimed at supporting and strengthening the student scientific research system and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity among university students. Its significance lies in its role as a leading scientific platform that allows students to showcase their projects and research, directly contributing to the development of their research skills. The conference also aims to align higher education outcomes with national development needs and the labor market, which is fully consistent with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which prioritizes education and innovation to build a sustainable knowledge-based economy.

Strategic partnerships and promising projects

During the ceremony, His Royal Highness the Governor of Jeddah and the distinguished guests viewed a presentation showcasing the most prominent scientific research and innovative projects presented by the students. The event was not limited to honoring students; it also witnessed the signing of several strategic cooperation agreements between Jeddah University and a number of relevant entities. These agreements aim to enhance scientific research, support entrepreneurship, and empower innovation, thus opening up broad horizons for the exchange of expertise and knowledge and expanding partnerships between educational institutions and various sectors.

Honoring Scientific Excellence

At the conclusion of the event, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi honored the winning and distinguished teams across the various conference tracks. The figures reflected the significant engagement and success of the inaugural conference, with 140 research teams, representing 309 students from 10 different universities in the Makkah region, being recognized. This recognition acknowledges the research efforts undertaken and motivates students to continue excelling in research and innovation, thus reinforcing the position of Saudi universities as incubators of knowledge and builders of the future.

The success of this conference is a positive indicator of the scientific movement taking place in the Kingdom, and evidence of the wise leadership’s interest in supporting the education sector and empowering Saudi youth to be future leaders and change makers.
