Salman Bay Campaign: Jeddah Municipality confiscates violations and enhances safety

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the urban landscape and enhance the quality of life in coastal areas, the Jeddah Municipality , represented by the Dhahban Sub-Municipality, conducted an intensive field campaign targeting the Salman Bay area. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at eliminating negative phenomena and municipal violations that affect the comfort of beachgoers and the safety of the marine environment.

Details of the field campaign and seizures

Inspections conducted by field teams revealed numerous regulatory violations in the area, including businesses operating without the necessary licenses. These violations included the haphazard proliferation of motorcycle (ATV) rental shops, mobile ice cream trucks, and makeshift stalls encroaching on sidewalks and public spaces, a clear violation of municipal regulations governing operations in tourist areas.

The monitoring teams dealt firmly with these violations, as the campaign resulted in immediate measures that included withdrawing and impounding a large number of motorcycles and violating sales vehicles, and removing stalls that were occupying public space and obstructing the movement of visitors, in order to enforce the rule of law and ensure smooth traffic flow at the site.

Context of the event and the importance of “Salman Bay”

Salman Bay holds particular importance as a vital waterfront destination north of Jeddah, attracting increasing numbers of families and tourists, especially during holidays and pleasant weather. Accordingly, the municipality is committed to preserving the area's aesthetic appeal, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program, which focuses on enhancing the urban landscape and reducing visual pollution in Saudi cities.

The haphazard proliferation of motorcycles in undesignated areas is one of the most significant challenges to public safety, given the potential for accidents and the disturbance they cause to beachgoers seeking peace and relaxation. Furthermore, the sale of food and beverages from unlicensed stalls poses a potential health risk due to the lack of direct health oversight of these products.

Official statements and continued oversight

Commenting on the campaign, the head of the Dhahban sub-municipality, Abdullah Mubarak , explained that these haphazard practices not only constitute visual pollution that harms the tourist environment, but also pose a direct threat to the safety of park visitors and beachgoers. He emphasized that the municipality will not hesitate to enforce regulations and instructions against violators.

The Jeddah Municipality stressed its determination to continue these field campaigns on a regular and surprise basis, to monitor all forms of visual pollution in the area, calling on citizens and residents to cooperate with the competent authorities and report any violations that may be observed, to ensure the provision of a safe, organized and sustainable coastal environment befitting Jeddah’s status as a major tourist destination in the Kingdom.
