Kadana Company completes the development of the Holy Sites with 298 electrical panels

Ongoing efforts to develop the holy sites

In a strategic move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to providing the best services to pilgrims, Kadana Development and Investment Company, the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites, announced the completion of a major project aimed at modernizing the infrastructure in Mina. This achievement involved replacing 298 advanced electrical panels in the main and secondary tents, as part of a package of proactive development projects dedicated to the 1447 AH Hajj season. This project underscores the paramount importance the wise leadership places on ensuring the highest levels of reliability and safety in the electrical power grid.

Historical context of the development of Mina

Historically, Mina, known as the “City of Tents,” has undergone radical transformations in its infrastructure. Since the late 1990s, the Kingdom has transitioned from traditional tents to advanced, fire-resistant fiberglass tents in a project considered the largest of its kind globally. With the increasing number of pilgrims annually, the need for continuous modernization of the electrical grid to accommodate the growing demand has become paramount, especially with the use of modern air conditioning and lighting systems. Therefore, the current project by the Kadana Company is not merely a routine upgrade, but rather an extension of a long-standing commitment to ensuring the safety of pilgrims and preventing any risks related to electrical short circuits or power outages during the days of Tashreeq, which witness immense crowd density.

Project details and implementation phases

To ensure uninterrupted service and continuous operation, the electrical panel project was implemented according to a precise engineering methodology across two main phases. The first phase included the completion and installation of 228 electrical panels, while the second phase added 70 more. These panels were designed according to the highest international engineering standards, taking into account the heavy usage and harsh climate of the Holy Sites. This innovative design aims to support the stability of electrical loads during peak season, minimize the likelihood of technical malfunctions, and improve power distribution to reduce electricity losses.

Expected impact at the local and international levels

This achievement has far-reaching dimensions and implications. Locally, the project contributes to increased operational and maintenance efficiency, and provides sufficient and stable power for lighting systems and electrical equipment in the tents, thus enhancing the quality of the living environment in the holy sites. Regionally and internationally, such development projects send a reassuring message to more than 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, affirming the Kingdom's capability and complete readiness to host millions of pilgrims annually in a safe and comfortable environment, thereby reinforcing Saudi Arabia's position as a leader of the Islamic world and custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Alignment with the Kingdom's Vision 2030

This achievement embodies the commitment of the Kadana Company to leading the sustainable development of the Holy Sites and enhancing the quality of life through integrated technological solutions. The company operates in complete alignment with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, specifically the “Guests of God Service Program,” which aims to transform the Hajj and Umrah experience. By providing advanced infrastructure and safe, comfortable services befitting the sanctity of the holy sites, the Kingdom continues to fulfill the aspirations of its wise leadership—may God support them—to make the pilgrim’s journey a lasting and seamless experience from arrival to departure.
