New King Fahd Causeway tolls 2026: Prices and exempted categories

The King Fahd Causeway Authority officially announced the implementation of a new toll structure for crossing the bridge linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain, effective February 18, 2026. This decision comes as part of organizational plans aimed at increasing operational efficiency and improving the quality of services provided to travelers and users of this vital crossing.
Details of the new fees for vehicles and trucks
According to the updated regulations, the toll for private cars and motorcycles has been set at 35 riyals each way. The amendments also included the public transportation sector, with a fee of 55 riyals for minibuses and 70 riyals for larger buses per trip, commensurate with the size and type of service provided. Regarding logistics and freight transport, the authority established a weight-based standard, imposing a fee of 7 riyals per ton for trucks crossing the bridge, thus contributing to the regulation of trade.
Categories exempt from fee increase
Taking into account humanitarian and social aspects, the organization made a strategic decision to exempt three main categories from any increase in fees, while maintaining their current prices:
- People with disabilities: The current fees have been maintained without change to facilitate their movement and in recognition of their circumstances.
- Students: The student segment has been protected from price differences in order to support their educational journey and alleviate the burdens on them.
- Frequent (daily) traveler: The classification included travelers whose work and lives required frequent travel between the two countries.
King Fahd Causeway: A vital artery and a rich history
The King Fahd Causeway, officially opened in 1986, is one of the most important development projects in the region. Stretching 25 kilometers, it connects the sister nations of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. More than just a crossing point, the bridge has become a symbol of brotherhood and social and political ties between the two countries, contributing to strengthening kinship bonds among Gulf families and facilitating travel during holidays and special occasions.
Economic and developmental importance
Economically, the bridge plays a pivotal role in boosting trade and tourism, being one of the busiest land crossings in the Middle East. These new regulatory measures aim to ensure the sustainability of the bridge's infrastructure and its capacity to accommodate the increasing number of travelers and trucks, which will positively impact economic growth in both kingdoms. Authorities have encouraged all travelers to utilize the digital services available through the bridge's official app for toll payment and to streamline crossing procedures.
