New King Fahd Causeway tolls 2026: Prices and implementation date

The King Fahd Causeway Authority has officially announced the implementation of updated fees for vehicles and trucks crossing the causeway linking the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain, effective tomorrow, February 18, 2026. This decision comes within the framework of organizational plans aimed at increasing operational efficiency and improving the traveler experience through this vital crossing.

Details of the new fees for crossing the King Fahd Causeway

According to the statement issued by the institution, the new pricing structure for one-way crossings has been determined as follows:

  • Private cars and motorcycles: 35 riyals.
  • Minibuses: 55 riyals.
  • Large buses: 70 riyals.
  • Trucks: 7 riyals per ton.

In a gesture that takes into account social and humanitarian aspects, the institution confirmed that the current fees will continue to be applied without any change for specific categories, including people with disabilities and students, in addition to frequent travelers who are enrolled in discount programs, as their prices will remain at the levels previously applied to ensure that they are not affected by the new amendments.

King Fahd Causeway: A lifeline and a long history

To better understand the significance of these upgrades, one must consider the historical context of this monumental project. The King Fahd Causeway was officially opened in 1986, becoming the first land link connecting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Stretching 25 kilometers, the bridge begins in the Saudi city of Khobar and extends to the Bahraini capital, Manama. More than just a simple engineering project, the bridge embodied a strategic vision to strengthen fraternal ties between the two nations. Since its opening, it has facilitated the movement of millions of passengers and goods, making it one of the busiest bridges in the Arab world.

Economic importance and expected impact

These toll adjustments are significant given the bridge's pivotal role in economic and tourism activity. The King Fahd Causeway is the main artery for land trade between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, with thousands of trucks carrying goods and products crossing it daily. The revenue generated from the toll upgrades is expected to fund essential periodic maintenance projects to preserve the bridge's infrastructure, as well as the development of logistical and technological services, such as smart gates and reduced waiting times. This will positively impact the flow of trade and the steadily growing tourism between the two countries, particularly during holidays and festivals.

The organization explained at the end of its statement that the main objective of this amendment is not merely to increase revenues, but is part of a comprehensive strategy to regulate transit traffic and develop services provided to travelers, in order to keep pace with the increasing density and achieve global quality standards in border management.
