King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center: Record-breaking figures and global humanitarian efforts

Coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of Human Fraternity, observed annually on February 4th, global attention turns to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has established itself as a beacon of charitable work and a model of international solidarity. Saudi efforts extend beyond providing in-kind assistance to encompass the development of a comprehensive humanitarian system aimed at preserving human dignity wherever it may be, regardless of race, religion, or color.
A history of organized institutional giving
Humanitarian work in the Kingdom is not a recent phenomenon, but rather an approach deeply rooted in its policies since its founding. However, 2015 marked a strategic turning point with the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , the Kingdom's official humanitarian arm. This establishment aimed to unify support channels and ensure that aid reaches those who need it with the highest standards of efficiency and transparency, reflecting the Saudi leadership's commitment to institutionalizing charitable work and maximizing its developmental impact.
Record numbers reflect the scale of the impact
In undeniable terms, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has implemented 8,749 humanitarian and development projects in 175 countries worldwide, with a total value exceeding US$145 billion . These substantial figures place the Kingdom among the world's leading donor nations and underscore its ethical commitment to the international community. Since its establishment, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center alone has implemented 4,183 projects in 113 countries, encompassing vital sectors such as food security, health, and shelter, with a value exceeding US$8.325 billion. Arab and Islamic countries, including Palestine, Yemen, Syria, and Sudan, have received the largest share of these projects.
The Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins: A Unique Medical Diplomacy
One of the most shining examples of the Kingdom's humanitarian record is the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins . Launched in 1990, this program is more than just a medical procedure; it is a message of peace and love from the Kingdom to the world. The program has successfully performed 67 complex separation surgeries and evaluated 155 cases from 28 countries across five continents. In recognition of these unique efforts, the United Nations, at the initiative of Saudi Arabia, designated November 24th as World Conjoined Twins Day, thus commemorating this Saudi medical and humanitarian achievement.

International recognition and global awards
As a culmination of this remarkable journey, the Kingdom achieved second place globally and first place in the Arab world among humanitarian aid donor countries for 2025, according to the United Nations Financial Tracking Service (FTS). The center also garnered prestigious awards, including the “Global Humanitarian Achievement Award” from the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, and the 2024 Family and Child Friendly Institutions Award from the League of Arab States. Furthermore, the center received the ISO 8000-1:2022 international certification for data quality, making it one of the first entities globally to achieve this standard, thus enhancing international confidence in Saudi Arabia’s mechanisms for managing relief efforts.
Celebrating the International Day of Human Fraternity is a constant reminder that the world is one family, and that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will always be the hand extended in goodness, and the initiative to create hope in the darkest of circumstances.
