Saudi aid in Marib: 2,400 food baskets for needy families
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, continued its tireless efforts to support the brotherly Yemeni people. The Center distributed 2,400 food baskets in the Al-Madinah district of Marib Governorate. This aid benefited 16,800 individuals from the most vulnerable families and displaced persons, as part of the second phase of the emergency food intervention project in Yemen.
This aid comes amid a complex humanitarian crisis that has gripped Yemen for years, described by the United Nations as one of the world's worst. The ongoing conflict has internally displaced millions, destroyed infrastructure, and brought basic services to a standstill, leaving a large proportion of the population below the poverty line and facing acute food insecurity.
Marib Governorate is of particular importance in this context, having become a refuge for hundreds of thousands of displaced people fleeing other conflict zones, placing immense pressure on its limited resources. This food aid aims to alleviate the burden on this vulnerable population, provide for their basic nutritional needs, and strengthen their resilience in the face of harsh living conditions.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, established in 2015 under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is a key player in the global humanitarian response, with a particular focus on Yemen. The Centre's efforts have not been limited to food aid, but have encompassed multiple vital sectors such as health, water and sanitation, education, and shelter, delivering hundreds of projects aimed at restoring normalcy and alleviating the suffering of Yemenis throughout the country.
The continued flow of Saudi humanitarian aid reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to its fraternal and humanitarian duty towards Yemen. Regionally and internationally, these efforts highlight the Kingdom's role as one of the largest international donors, underscoring the importance of international solidarity in addressing humanitarian crises, contributing to stability and security in the region, and providing necessary support to populations affected by conflicts and disasters.
