King Salman Relief Center aid reaches thousands of families in Gaza
As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed urgent food aid in the Gaza Strip to alleviate the suffering of affected and displaced families. This aid included the distribution of 1,380 food baskets in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, benefiting 8,280 individuals from the most vulnerable groups.
This aid comes as part of the Saudi popular campaign to provide relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, reflecting the Kingdom's longstanding commitment to standing with Palestinians in their times of crisis. These efforts coincide with the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip, where residents are suffering from severe shortages of food, water, and basic necessities, making this aid a lifeline for many families who have lost their livelihoods and homes.
Historical background and the role of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center was established in 2015 under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to serve as the Kingdom's humanitarian arm in providing assistance to affected communities worldwide without discrimination. Since its inception, the Center has implemented hundreds of projects in dozens of countries, with a particular focus on providing food security, healthcare, and shelter in conflict and disaster zones. Support for the Palestinian people is a fundamental part of the Center's mission, reflecting the Kingdom's leading role in supporting the Palestinian cause on all levels.
The impact and importance of aid
In addition to food baskets, the center’s central kitchen in Gaza continued to provide hot meals, distributing 24,800 complete meals in the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, benefiting 24,800 people. This aid is of paramount importance under the current circumstances, as it not only helps alleviate hunger but also strengthens families’ psychological and social resilience. Locally, these interventions help prevent outbreaks of malnutrition, particularly among children, women, and the elderly. Regionally and internationally, these efforts highlight the active humanitarian role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and underscore the importance of international solidarity in addressing major humanitarian crises, embodying the Kingdom’s noble values and its lofty humanitarian mission.
