King Salman Relief Center aid arrives in Gaza: food baskets and meals

Urgent food aid to alleviate the crisis in Gaza

As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed large quantities of urgent food aid in the Gaza Strip, aiming to alleviate the suffering of the population. The aid included the distribution of 1,210 food baskets in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, benefiting 7,260 individuals from the most vulnerable families and displaced persons. This assistance is part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, reflecting the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting humanitarian causes worldwide.

Background of the crisis and the Kingdom's humanitarian role

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre was established in 2015 as the humanitarian arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, working to provide assistance to those in need and affected by crises and disasters around the world without discrimination. Gaza faces extremely difficult humanitarian challenges, with severe shortages of food, water, and medical supplies, making these initiatives a lifeline for thousands of families struggling to survive. The Centre has implemented thousands of projects in dozens of countries, focusing on vital sectors such as food security, health, shelter, and education, earning it a distinguished international reputation as one of the leading international donors.

Distributing hot meals to support displaced people

In addition to food baskets, the center’s central kitchen in Gaza continued distributing hot meals, providing 25,000 complete meals in the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip. These meals benefited 25,000 individuals, providing them with a readily available and nutritious source of food under difficult circumstances that prevent them from cooking. These meals are a crucial part of the emergency response to meet the immediate food needs of displaced people.

The importance and expected impact of aid

Locally, this aid directly contributes to achieving food security for affected families and reducing the risk of malnutrition, particularly among children, women, and the elderly. Regionally and internationally, these efforts underscore the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and reinforce its image as a leading humanitarian nation. They also serve as a call to the international community to intensify its relief efforts to address the escalating crisis in Gaza and highlight the importance of international solidarity during times of disaster.
