King Salman Center distributes 1400 food baskets in Berber, Sudan

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid , continued its tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people, as the center distributed 1,400 food baskets targeting the most needy families and displaced people in Berber locality, River Nile State, in the Republic of Sudan.
This urgent aid, which was distributed the day before yesterday, came to meet the needs of 11,700 affected individuals, as part of the “Sudan Support” project for 2026, which aims to provide food security and bridge the food gap created by the current conditions in the country.
A comprehensive humanitarian response via air and sea bridges
This step comes as an extension of the Saudi relief effort that has been ongoing since the outbreak of the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. The Kingdom has established an air and sea bridge to transport thousands of tons of aid, with the number of relief flights reaching 13 so far, in addition to 60 ships loaded with various types of support.
Saudi aid is not limited to the food aspect only, but includes an integrated package of shelter, health and environmental support, as well as support for humanitarian operations and volunteer programs, reflecting the comprehensiveness of the Saudi vision in dealing with disasters and humanitarian crises.
The humanitarian context and the importance of the Nile River State
This aid is of particular strategic importance given the location of River Nile State, which has become a safe haven for thousands of families fleeing the ravages of conflict in the capital, Khartoum, and other areas. The influx of displaced people has placed immense pressure on local resources in areas like Berber, making rapid external intervention vital to prevent the humanitarian crisis from worsening and malnutrition from spreading.
The field teams of the King Salman Relief Center are working in coordination with local and international partners to ensure that aid reaches those who need it, with the total value of aid provided to Sudan exceeding US$125,566,000, including the signing of multiple agreements with UN and international organizations to enhance the efficiency of the response.
A firm Saudi commitment
This continued support underscores the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's longstanding and unwavering commitment to standing with the Sudanese people in their time of need, embodying the values of Arab brotherhood and solidarity. Through these diplomatic and humanitarian efforts, the Kingdom seeks to draw the international community's attention to the urgent need to intensify support for Sudan during this critical period, ensuring regional stability and providing a dignified life for those affected.
