King Salman Center distributes food and shelter aid to displaced people in Aleppo
As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support affected populations worldwide, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued to provide urgent assistance to the Syrian people. Yesterday, the Center distributed a new batch of humanitarian aid targeting displaced people in Aleppo Governorate, in response to the difficult conditions the region is experiencing as a result of recent events.
The aid provided included the distribution of 400 complete food baskets and 800 winter blankets, benefiting 400 displaced families suffering from severe shortages of basic necessities. This initiative is part of a comprehensive project aimed at ensuring food security and providing warmth to the most vulnerable families in the affected areas.
A humanitarian response at a critical time
This aid is particularly important given its timing, as internally displaced people in Syria face compounded challenges with the onset of winter and plummeting temperatures, making shelter materials like blankets critically needed. Furthermore, the dire economic and living conditions resulting from years of instability in the region have made food baskets a lifeline for many families who have lost their livelihoods and homes.
The leading role of the King Salman Relief Center
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center is the humanitarian arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and since its establishment, it has played a pivotal role in alleviating the suffering of afflicted populations without discrimination. This aid in Aleppo falls within the Center's strategy to reach those in need across Syria, both within the country and in neighboring countries hosting refugees.
These initiatives reflect the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian principles and Arab brotherhood, as Saudi Arabia always strives to be at the forefront of donor countries and to contribute to alleviating the suffering of the brotherly Syrian people, through various programs that include food, shelter, health care, and education.
The impact of aid at the regional level
The continued flow of Saudi aid directly contributes to strengthening the resilience of displaced families and mitigating the severity of the humanitarian crisis, one of the largest in modern times. These on-the-ground efforts by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center underscore that Saudi support is not merely emergency aid, but a sustainable approach aimed at preserving human dignity and meeting essential needs in the most dire circumstances.
