King Salman Center distributes food and winter clothing in Hadramawt

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the brotherly Yemeni people, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid continued to implement its relief programs in Hadramawt Governorate, targeting the most needy families in the valley and desert districts, through a package of food aid and winter clothing.

Details of food aid

The center distributed 13,600 complete food baskets, benefiting 95,200 individuals from affected families in the region. This distribution is part of the "Emergency Food Interventions Project" in Yemen, which aims to bridge the food gap and provide basic necessities for citizens amidst the country's difficult economic conditions. The food baskets contain essential items that meet a family's needs for a period of time, thus contributing to enhanced food security in the targeted areas.

"Kanaf" project and winter clothing

Alongside food aid, the center launched its 2026 winter clothing distribution project, "Kanaf," in the desert areas of Wadi Hadramawt. The project aims to distribute 2,085 winter clothing sets to the poorest and most vulnerable families. This targeted intervention seeks to protect vulnerable groups, especially children and the elderly, from the harsh cold waves characteristic of open desert areas during winter, thus alleviating the financial and health burdens on these families.

The humanitarian context and the importance of intervention

This aid is of paramount importance given the broader context of the Yemeni crisis, where UN reports indicate that millions of Yemenis are suffering from food insecurity. Hadhramaut Governorate, with its vast area and diverse terrain, is one of the regions requiring sustained intervention to ensure access to essential services for residents of remote and desert areas. These initiatives reaffirm the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's longstanding commitment to supporting Yemen's stability and alleviating the humanitarian suffering of its people. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's efforts extend beyond food and clothing to encompass the health, education, and shelter sectors.

Expected impact and leading role

This support is expected to improve the living conditions of thousands of families in Hadramawt and reduce the risks of malnutrition and cold-related illnesses. This swift and organized action reflects the leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as one of the largest donors to Yemen and highlights the efficiency of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in reaching the most affected areas and providing assistance to those in need according to precise and transparent humanitarian standards.
