King Salman Center distributes hot meals as part of Gaza aid

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its tireless efforts to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, distributing 24,800 complete hot meals in the central and southern areas of the Strip. This urgent aid targeted displaced families and those most affected by the current humanitarian crisis, benefiting 24,800 individuals, as part of the Saudi popular campaign to aid the brotherly Palestinian people.

The general context of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza

This distribution comes at a critical time for the Gaza Strip, which is suffering an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Reports from the United Nations and international organizations indicate that the majority of the population, exceeding two million, are facing severe levels of food insecurity, with repeated warnings of the risk of famine, particularly in the northern part of the Strip. The ongoing conflict has displaced more than 85% of the population and destroyed essential infrastructure, making access to food and medical aid vital for survival.

The role of the Kingdom and the King Salman Relief Center

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, established in 2015, is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s primary humanitarian arm on the international stage. Since the start of the latest crisis in Gaza, the Kingdom, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince, launched a public campaign through the “Sahem” platform to collect donations. It also established an air and sea bridge to deliver various forms of relief aid, including food, medical supplies, and shelter materials, to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians.

The importance of aid and its expected impact

These initiatives are of paramount importance both locally and internationally. Locally, these hot meals provide a vital source of nutrition for families who have lost everything and are living in dire conditions in shelters or tents, thus contributing to their resilience. Internationally, these efforts reflect the Kingdom's commitment to its humanitarian and leading role in the region, underscore Arab and Islamic solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and help mobilize international support to increase aid to the Gaza Strip. The distribution of these meals reaffirms the continuity of Saudi humanitarian support for the Palestinian people, representing a part of an ongoing series of relief projects implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in Gaza to address food insecurity and provide support to affected populations.
