Introduction to the humanitarian role of the Kingdom

continues The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center its leading role as the humanitarian arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, extending its reach across the globe. Established in 2015 under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Center aims to unify Saudi relief efforts and provide assistance to those in need and those affected by disasters worldwide, without discrimination. In this context, the Center recently implemented a series of diverse relief projects in four countries: Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Yemen, reflecting the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to alleviating human suffering.

Continued support for the Syrian people

In the Syrian Arab Republic, which has been suffering from a humanitarian crisis for over a decade, the center distributed 604 food baskets to needy families in the Damascus countryside, benefiting 604 families. Coinciding with the onset of winter and the increased need for shelter materials, the center also distributed 500 blankets to the most vulnerable families in Deir ez-Zor, benefiting 250 families. These efforts are part of the ongoing Saudi aid package provided to the brotherly Syrian people to alleviate their harsh living conditions and provide them with the most basic necessities for a dignified life.

Strengthening healthcare in Lebanon

In Lebanon, which is facing unprecedented economic and health challenges that have severely impacted the capacity of the medical sector, the Center continued its support. The ambulance service of the Sabil Al-Salam Social Association in the Minieh region of northern Lebanon carried out 35 ambulance missions in just one week, with direct funding from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. These vital missions included transporting patients and the injured to and from hospitals in Minieh, contributing to saving lives and providing urgent care. Both refugees and the Lebanese host community benefited from these services.

Food security projects in Afghanistan

At the international level, and as part of its response to the ongoing crises in Afghanistan, the Center distributed 706 food baskets in Bazarak, Panjshir Province. This aid targeted returnees from neighboring countries, internally displaced persons, needy families, and orphans, benefiting 4,236 individuals. This work falls under the Food Security and Emergency Project in Afghanistan, planned until 2026, which aims to combat hunger and provide basic necessities for vulnerable groups amidst the country's difficult economic conditions.

Emergency food interventions in Yemen

In Yemen, which receives the largest share of the center's projects due to the deep humanitarian crisis there, the center provided 1,418 food baskets to needy families who had lost their breadwinners in Al-Mansoura district of Aden Governorate. 709 families benefited from this aid, which comes as part of the second phase of the Emergency Food Interventions Project in Yemen, aimed at strengthening food security and reducing malnutrition rates among the most vulnerable groups.

Regional and international impact

These simultaneous efforts in four different countries highlight the crucial role played by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre at both the regional and international levels. By providing food, shelter, and healthcare, the Centre directly contributes to the stability of local communities, prevents the escalation of humanitarian crises, and strengthens the resilience of the most vulnerable groups. These swift and well-planned interventions reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's bright humanitarian image and reaffirm its commitment to extending a helping hand to all those in need around the world, in accordance with the highest international humanitarian standards.
