Mobile clinic in Hajjah: Medical services for 294 beneficiaries
Amid the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, continues to provide medical support to the most vulnerable areas. In this context, the mobile clinic in Hajjah, specifically in the Al-Deir district of Hayran, provided medical services to 294 beneficiaries between April 29 and May 5, 2024, underscoring its vital role in reaching the most vulnerable populations in remote areas.
Humanitarian efforts in the face of a crumbling health system
Like other Yemeni governorates, Hajjah suffers from a severe deterioration in its health sector as a result of years of conflict. This has led to the collapse of many health facilities and made it difficult for residents to access basic medical services. These humanitarian initiatives, such as mobile clinics, are a direct response to this crisis, aiming to bridge the healthcare gap and provide treatment and preventative care in villages and communities lacking hospitals and permanent health centers. Providing these services directly contributes to alleviating the suffering of local residents and reducing the spread of diseases and epidemics that often thrive during crises.
The mobile clinic in Hajjah provides comprehensive medical services
The services provided were not limited to a single type of care, but encompassed a comprehensive range of vital specialties that addressed the community's urgent needs. The infectious disease clinic received 165 patients, a department of paramount importance in an environment prone to outbreaks of diseases such as cholera and dengue fever. The emergency clinic treated 40 critical cases, while the internal medicine clinic provided consultations and treatments to 69 patients. Additionally, five individuals benefited from the reproductive health clinic's services, and 15 people received health education and awareness training. This system was complemented by support services, including nursing care for 60 individuals, the dispensing of necessary medications to 274 patients, and the implementation of two safe medical waste disposal activities to protect the environment and public health.
A tangible impact that goes beyond the numbers
The importance of these projects lies not only in the numbers and statistics, but also in the profound impact they have on the lives of individuals and families. Every patient receiving treatment, every child receiving a vaccination, and every pregnant woman receiving care represents a success story in overcoming challenges. Mobile clinics contribute to strengthening the resilience of local communities, offer hope to isolated populations, and underscore the continued Saudi humanitarian support for the Yemeni people in various fields, especially the health sector, which is the cornerstone of any recovery and stabilization process.
