As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to serve Islam and Muslims around the world, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, represented by the Religious Attaché at the Kingdom’s Embassy in Kazakhstan (whose work covers the Republic of Turkmenistan), delivered the gift of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may God protect him - of premium dates to the sisterly Republic of Turkmenistan.
Details of the handover ceremony in Ashgabat
The official handover ceremony took place at the Embassy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, in the presence of the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Nayef bin Saud Al-Sahli, along with several prominent Turkmen officials and a number of imams and Islamic figures from the country. During the ceremony, five tons of premium dates were handed over, a quantity designated for distribution according to a structured plan to ensure they reach those in need.
The social impact and humanitarian dimension of the program
This shipment of dates aims to reach over 20,000 beneficiaries across various Turkmen regions. This initiative embodies the values of solidarity and compassion encouraged by Islamic law, and strengthens the bonds of love and brotherhood between the Saudi and Turkmen peoples. Dates are a symbol of Arab generosity and hospitality, and hold a special place in Islamic culture, lending this gift a profound moral and spiritual significance for the recipients.
A global program reflecting the Kingdom's leadership
This initiative is not limited to Turkmenistan; it falls within the framework of the massive annual program overseen by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance for distributing dates abroad. This ambitious program covers 120 countries worldwide, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leading role in humanitarian and Islamic work, and the wise leadership's commitment to addressing the needs of Muslims and building bridges of communication with them across different continents.
Turkmen praise for fraternal relations
For their part, representatives of the Fatwa Department of Turkmenistan expressed their profound gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and people, for this generous and ongoing gesture. They praised the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties that bind the two brotherly nations, while also commending the outstanding services and extensive facilities provided by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Turkmen pilgrims, enabling them to perform their rituals with ease and peace of mind.
