King Salman Center continues water supply project in Al-Khokha, Yemen

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its tireless humanitarian efforts in Yemen by implementing a water supply and environmental sanitation project in Al-Khawkhah District, Al-Hudaydah Governorate. This project is part of a series of vital initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people and provide basic necessities in affected areas.

January statistics: Figures reflecting the scale of the donation

The importance of water projects in the Yemeni context

Water and sanitation projects are of paramount importance in Yemen, which is suffering from a severe water crisis exacerbated by years of conflict. Al Hudaydah Governorate, and specifically Al Khawkhah District, is one of the most densely populated areas due to waves of displacement, placing immense pressure on the already strained infrastructure. This project directly contributes to bridging the significant gap in the water sector, where access to clean water remains the greatest challenge facing millions of Yemenis daily.

Health and environmental impact of the project

The importance of this project extends beyond simply providing water; its impact encompasses health and preventative measures. By providing clean water, removing waste, and draining sewage, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center is contributing to containing waterborne diseases and epidemics, such as cholera and malaria, which pose a real threat to the lives of residents, especially children and the elderly in the camps.

The Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work

This project reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to supporting Yemen across all sectors, with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center at the forefront of the international humanitarian scene as one of the largest donors to Yemen. The Center's projects encompass a wide range of areas, including food security, health, shelter, education, and water and sanitation, underscoring the Kingdom's comprehensive humanitarian vision and its dedication to improving the living conditions of the Yemeni people until the crisis is resolved.
