Kuwaiti ambassador thanks Saudi leadership for taking care of stranded Kuwaitis
A brotherly stance that reflects the depth of Saudi-Kuwaiti relations
Sheikh Sabah Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership and people, for the outstanding care and generous hospitality extended to the Kuwaiti citizens stranded in the Kingdom.
This praise came in light of the exceptional circumstances that the region has recently experienced, as geopolitical tensions and Iranian attacks have disrupted air traffic and closed some airspaces, leaving a number of Kuwaiti citizens stranded outside their country and making it difficult for them to return via regular flights.
Royal directives to host the sons of the Gulf
In a generous and unsurprising humanitarian gesture, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, issued directives to host all stranded citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the Kingdom, providing them with every comfort and care until their safe return home is facilitated. The Kuwaiti Ambassador expressed his appreciation for this directive, emphasizing that it embodies the highest ideals of Gulf solidarity and brotherhood, transcending all borders.
Land convoys dispatched to bring back 472 Kuwaiti citizens
In a press statement he made while directly overseeing the logistical operations, Sheikh Sabah Al-Nasser explained that the Kuwaiti Embassy in Riyadh successfully arranged for equipped buses to transport 472 stranded Kuwaiti citizens from the Saudi capital, Riyadh, back to Kuwait safely. The ambassador appealed to all Kuwaiti citizens still in the Kingdom due to recent events to not hesitate to contact the embassy in Riyadh for any assistance or support they may require.
Historical context: Moments that remain etched in memory
This event cannot be understood in isolation from the historical context of Saudi-Kuwaiti relations, which serve as a model for international relations. The Kuwaiti ambassador affirmed that the Kingdom has a long and distinguished history of support for Kuwait, a history etched in Kuwaiti memory and never to be forgotten. These relations are based on bonds of blood, religion, and shared destiny, which were most clearly demonstrated during the 1990 Gulf War, when the Kingdom stood firmly by Kuwait's side with its full political, military, and economic weight. Any current support is therefore a natural extension of this honorable legacy.
Regional impact and significance of the event
This event carries significant implications and effects on several levels:
- On the local and bilateral level: This position strengthens the internal front of both countries and increases popular cohesion, which sees the two leaderships as a safety valve in times of crisis.
- On the regional level: It sends a strong message of reassurance to the peoples of the Gulf Cooperation Council that the joint Gulf action system is capable of dealing with regional emergencies and crises with high efficiency, and that Gulf solidarity is not just slogans but a tangible reality.
- On the international level: It reflects the ability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to professionally manage humanitarian and logistical crises, and confirms its pivotal role as a pillar of stability and security in the Middle East region amidst escalating geopolitical tensions.
In closing, the Kuwaiti ambassador prayed to God Almighty to protect the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from all harm and evil, and to perpetuate the blessings of security and safety upon the two brotherly countries under their wise leadership.
