Larijani's funeral will be held on Wednesday, and Iran vows revenge
Ali Larijani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council and one of the regime's most prominent figures.
The funeral procession for Larijani and Basij militia commander Gholamreza Soleimani, who was also assassinated by Israel on Tuesday, is scheduled for 10:30 GMT in Tehran, according to the Fars and Tasnim news agencies.
Larijani is the most senior figure in the Islamic Republic to be assassinated since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28, which saw the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on its first day and has since spread throughout the Middle East.
Khamenei's funeral was initially planned for days after his death but was postponed indefinitely.
Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief Amir Hatami said in a statement, "Iran's response to the assassination of the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council decisive and regrettable."
