Launch of the "Joy of Fasting People 2" project in Al-Ahsa: Distribution of 70,000 meals

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, His Excellency the Deputy Governor, Mr. Muath bin Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, inaugurated the second edition of the "Joy of Fasting 2" project today, Tuesday, at his office in the Governorate headquarters. This project is one of the most prominent community initiatives implemented by the Sanad Association for Social Responsibility in Al-Ahsa, in strategic partnership with King Faisal University, with the aim of promoting the values of social solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.

Context of the initiative and its societal importance

This initiative comes within the framework of ongoing national efforts to reduce negative phenomena associated with Iftar time. General statistics and typical road behaviors indicate a rise in speeding and reckless driving just before sunset, increasing the likelihood of traffic accidents. Hence, the importance of the "Joy of a Fasting Person" project lies in its preventative and community-based approach, aiming to reduce speeding by providing Iftar meals to drivers at traffic lights and major intersections, thus offering them peace of mind and lessening the urge to rush.

The project also reflects the spirit of volunteer work inherent in Saudi society, specifically in Al-Ahsa Governorate, which has recorded record numbers in charitable work, thus aligning with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aspires to reach one million volunteers and enhance the role of the non-profit sector in social development.

Details of the second version: Expansion of objectives and categories

During the launch, His Excellency the Deputy Governor was briefed on the operational plan for the project, which aims to distribute more than 70,000 iftar meals throughout the holy month of Ramadan this year. The goal extends beyond mere distribution, focusing on improving traffic safety and reducing haphazard parking.

a new humanitarian initiative has been introduced targeting patient companions in hospital emergency departments. This step comes in recognition of the psychological state and special circumstances experienced by patient companions, as the association provides them with breakfast meals in their waiting areas, embodying the highest ideals of compassion and solidarity.

Supporting leadership and integrating efforts

In a statement, Professor Muath Al-Jaafari affirmed that this project is receiving close attention and direct support from His Highness the Governor of Al-Ahsa. He noted that His Highness's support for impactful initiatives reflects the wise leadership's commitment to serving humanity and enhancing its well-being. Al-Jaafari added that His Highness's directives consistently emphasize the necessity of integrating efforts among government sectors, the non-profit sector, and academic institutions to ensure the sustainability of the impact and improve the quality of life.

Safety standards and field organization

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Eid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sanad Association, explained that the project represents a shift towards initiatives with a tangible impact, expressing his gratitude to His Highness the Governor and His Excellency the Undersecretary for their support and inauguration. Saud Al-Shuaibi, the project's General Supervisor, also confirmed that the field teams have completed their preparations according to the highest safety standards for volunteers, with meticulous plans in place to ensure smooth traffic flow during distribution operations, thus achieving the project's humanitarian goals without disrupting traffic.
