The Holy Sites Journey Program kicks off with the participation of Arab and Islamic youth

The “Journey to the Holy Sites” program, a prominent cultural and youth event organized by the Saudi Ministry of Sports, kicked off last Tuesday and will continue until January 29. The program features broad participation from leading young people representing Arab and Islamic countries, in strategic cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States. This initiative is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and solidify the values of cultural communication and knowledge exchange among the youth of the Arab and Islamic worlds.

Strategic goals and future vision

The program is not merely a tourist or religious trip; it also carries strategic dimensions aligned with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. Its primary aim is to introduce Arab and Muslim youth to the tremendous efforts and integrated system that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia employs to serve pilgrims. The program organizers seek to provide participants with firsthand insight into the scale of development in infrastructure and logistical services offered to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, reflecting the Kingdom's exemplary role in the care of Islamic holy sites.

A tour through the realms of history and holy sites

The program's agenda is diverse and comprehensive, covering three major cities: Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah. The program includes:

  • Field visits to the holy sites: The tours include standing at Mina, the pure plains of Arafat, and Muzdalifah, where participants learn about the precise organizational mechanisms and operational plans that ensure the safety and comfort of millions of pilgrims annually.
  • Performing the rituals and the spiritual aspect: The program allows participants the opportunity to perform the Umrah rituals, which adds a deep spiritual dimension to the trip, in addition to visiting the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina.
  • Exploring historical landmarks: Visits include cultural museums and landmarks related to the Prophet's noble biography, linking the present to the glorious past of the Islamic nation.

Strengthening the role of youth in development

The program places particular emphasis on youth empowerment, highlighting the Kingdom's achievements in promoting the role of young people in economic, social, and sporting development. Through a visit to Jeddah, participants will experience the city's pioneering spirit, exploring its historic district (Al-Balad) and learning about its modern sporting landmarks, reflecting a balance between preserving heritage and embracing modernity.

The importance of regional cultural exchange

The significance of the “Journey of the Holy Sites” lies in its role as a vibrant platform for dialogue and interaction between diverse cultures under the umbrella of a unifying Islamic identity. This initiative is part of a series of initiatives by the Ministry of Sports aimed at building bridges of cooperation, developing the capabilities of young people, and unifying visions on shared issues, thus reaffirming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leading role in guiding joint Islamic action and serving the causes of the Muslim world.
