Rain in Medina: Weather alerts and flash flood warnings

The National Center for Meteorology issued an advanced warning today regarding the expected weather conditions in the Madinah , warning of weather fluctuations including rainfall ranging from moderate to light in a number of governorates, which calls for caution and vigilance by citizens, residents and highway users.

Weather details in Al-Ula and the region's governorates

The center explained in its report that the weather conditions include moderate Al-Ula Governorate . This rainfall will be accompanied by significant weather phenomena, including strong winds that may stir up dust and sand, reduce horizontal visibility to near zero, and cause hail, flash floods in valleys and ravines, and the possibility of thunderstorms. The center indicated that this weather pattern will continue until 6:00 PM today.

In a related development, the meteorological department issued a warning of light rain affecting the governorates of Khaybar, Al-Ais, Al-Rais, and Yanbu. This weather system is accompanied by active winds, reduced horizontal visibility, and thunderstorms. The conditions began at 11:00 AM and are expected to continue until 8:00 PM.

The importance of adhering to safety and civil defense instructions

These warnings are of paramount importance given the geographical nature of the Madinah region and its governorates, which are characterized by numerous valleys and ravines that can quickly fill with rainwater, posing a danger to hikers and drivers. The relevant authorities, primarily the Civil Defense , urge everyone to stay away from valleys and flood channels, and to avoid crossing valleys while they are flowing, regardless of the water level. They also advise avoiding low-lying areas and water accumulations.

The role of meteorology in promoting public safety

This report is part of the National Center for Meteorology's ongoing efforts to monitor and track climate changes using the latest technologies and advanced radars, with the aim of providing accurate and timely information that contributes to protecting lives and property. Accurate weather forecasts are crucial in enabling service and security agencies to take the necessary proactive measures to deal with rainfall events, especially in tourist and historical areas such as Al-Ula, which attracts a large number of visitors.

The center emphasizes the importance of following continuous weather updates through official channels and trusted social media accounts to ensure accurate information and avoid rumors, wishing everyone safety.
