As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims to the Holy Mosque in Mecca, Saudi security authorities announced the arrest of two Indonesian residents in the holy city. Background on Hajj organization and fraud prevention efforts

This security measure comes within the framework of the comprehensive campaign launched annually by the Kingdom under the slogan “No Hajj Without a Permit,” which aims to organize and manage the millions of pilgrims who flock to the Holy Land. The Saudi government invests enormous resources to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and top-tier logistical and security services to ensure a safe and seamless Hajj experience. They were detained and the necessary legal procedures were initiated against them, before being referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and the application of deterrent penalties.

The significance of this operation lies in its sending a firm message to anyone tempted to exploit religious rites for illicit gain. It also reinforces the confidence of pilgrims from around the world in Saudi Arabia's stringent procedures, emphasizing that their safety and the security of their spiritual journey are a top priority. Internationally, these efforts contribute to protecting the Kingdom's reputation as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and help curb transnational crimes targeting innocent people.

A call to abide by the regulations and report violators

Public Security reiterated its call to all citizens, residents, and visitors to fully comply with Hajj regulations and instructions, and to rely exclusively on official and approved channels for Hajj registration. It also urged everyone to cooperate with the authorities and promptly report any suspicious advertisements or fraudulent activities via the designated numbers: (911) in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and (999) in the rest of the Kingdom, in order to contribute to maintaining a safe and stable environment for the pilgrims.
