Makkah Environment and Sustainability distribute 2000 breakfast meals in the Grand Mosque

In a spiritually uplifting atmosphere of Ramadan, and as part of ongoing efforts to serve pilgrims, the Makkah branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, represented by its Non-Profit Sector Organizations Department, implemented a distinguished community initiative in cooperation with the Sustainability Association. This initiative involved distributing over 2,000 Iftar meals in the outer courtyards of the Grand Mosque, with the broad participation of field volunteer teams.

Promoting a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility

This initiative reflects the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which places great emphasis on the non-profit sector and encourages volunteer work, with the Kingdom aiming to reach one million volunteers. The participation of young Saudi nationals in organizing and distributing meals embodies the spirit of giving and solidarity that characterizes Saudi society, particularly in serving the millions of pilgrims and visitors who flock to the Holy City during the holy month.

High-level health and regulatory standards

The initiative went beyond mere distribution, focusing primarily on quality and adherence to strict health and environmental standards. The organizational plan was implemented in the most crowded locations to ensure smooth movement and prevent obstruction of worshippers, while maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the site. This reflects the name of the partner association, "Sustainability," which is dedicated to preserving resources and reducing food waste, thus adding an environmental and awareness-raising dimension to the initiative alongside its charitable aspect.

Official statements and future aspirations

For his part, Engineer Waleed bin Ibrahim Al-Dughais, Director General of the Ministry's branch in the Makkah region, affirmed that this initiative is an extension of the vital role the branch plays in solidifying the concept of social responsibility. He pointed out that services provided to pilgrims are carried out according to the highest standards, emphasizing that the success achieved in this initiative will be an incentive to expand the scope of charitable work in the future and increase the number of meals and beneficiaries, thus strengthening the values of social solidarity and showcasing the Kingdom's bright image in serving those visiting the Two Holy Mosques.

These partnerships between government agencies and charitable associations are a model to be emulated in institutional integration to serve the community, as efforts are combined to provide comfort and reassurance to those fasting and performing Umrah, which leaves a good impression on them and helps them to perform their rituals with ease and convenience.
