The Makkah Route Initiative facilitates the journey of blind pilgrims from Morocco

Humanitarian care that transcends the limits of sight

In a heartwarming display of care and attention to pilgrims, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has once again demonstrated that its exceptional care transcends mere observation; it is felt deeply in the heart and soul. This occurred as a number of visually impaired pilgrims departed from the Kingdom of Morocco via Rabat-Salé International Airport, benefiting from the exceptional facilities provided by the Makkah Route Initiative. These pilgrims expressed their profound gratitude for the comprehensive organizational and humanitarian services they received from the moment they arrived at the initiative's dedicated terminal, as they prepared to travel to Makkah to perform Hajj with ease and peace of mind.

General and historical context of the Makkah Route Initiative

The Makkah Route Initiative is one of the most important strategic initiatives launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as part of the Guests of God Service Program, which is a key pillar of Saudi Vision 2030. This pioneering initiative was first launched in 1438 AH (2017 CE) with the aim of transforming the Hajj experience and facilitating the pilgrims' spiritual journey. The initiative is based on completing the entry procedures for pilgrims to the Kingdom at their departure airports, starting with issuing the electronic visa and collecting biometric data, then completing passport procedures and ensuring compliance with health requirements, and finally, tagging and sorting luggage according to precise arrangements that guarantee its direct delivery to their accommodations.

The initiative's impact and its regional and international importance

The implementation of this initiative in the Kingdom of Morocco and other Islamic countries carries profound significance, reflecting the Saudi leadership's commitment to removing all obstacles for Muslims from around the world. Regionally, this step strengthens the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the beneficiary countries. Internationally, the initiative presents an unprecedented global model for crowd management and facilitating religious travel, particularly for groups requiring special care, such as the elderly and those with visual and mobility impairments, ensuring they can perform their rituals in complete comfort without the hardship of waiting upon arrival at the Kingdom's entry points.

A smooth journey and thanks to the Saudi leadership

The visually impaired Moroccan pilgrims expressed their deep gratitude to the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the exceptional care and attention they received. The pilgrims appreciated the warm welcome, the ease of procedures, and the meticulous organization of their journey. They affirmed that the heartfelt reception and humane treatment they received from the participating Saudi teams directly contributed to facilitating their pilgrimage and gave them an overwhelming sense of comfort and care, praising the advanced services provided within the initiative.

Institutional integration to serve the guests of God

It is worth noting that the Saudi Ministry of Interior is implementing this initiative with unparalleled success in its eighth year, through high-level integration and coordination with multiple government entities, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media, in addition to the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority for Endowments, the Guests of God Service Program, and the General Directorate of Passports. This massive undertaking is carried out in partnership with the digital partner (stc Group). Thanks to these unified efforts, the initiative has successfully served more than 1,254,994 pilgrims since its launch, reaffirming the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to serving Islam and Muslims.
