Taibah University launches Taibah Thon program to support innovation and entrepreneurship

In a strategic move aimed at fostering an innovation-driven environment in the Madinah region, Taibah University the “ Taibah Thon ” program, a comprehensive initiative designed to discover and nurture talented students in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. The program targets participants from various universities across the Madinah region, thereby broadening its impact and creating a positive competitive environment among the region's youth.

Strategic partnership with “Monshaat”

This launch comes as part of an effective strategic partnership between Taibah University and the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Monsha’at). This partnership reflects the integration of roles between educational institutions and government agencies supporting the business sector, as both parties seek to unify efforts to provide a suitable environment for transforming promising student ideas into successful commercial projects that contribute to the gross domestic product.

Program objectives and pathways

The “Tayyiba Thon” program primarily aims to:

  • Discovering and classifying talented students scientifically according to precise criteria.
  • Providing the necessary care through an integrated system that includes intensive training courses.
  • Establishing specialized training camps (Bootcamps) to hone entrepreneurial skills.
  • Helping students to transform their innovative ideas into viable business prototypes and entrepreneurial projects that can be implemented in the market.

The context of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the knowledge economy

This initiative gains its significance from its complete alignment with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 , which places great emphasis on developing human capital and fostering a culture of innovation. Saudi universities today play a pivotal role in the transition to a "knowledge-based economy," where the university's role is no longer limited to academic instruction but has expanded to include graduating entrepreneurs capable of creating job opportunities rather than seeking them. Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is a cornerstone of diversifying national income sources, which is what the program aims to achieve by injecting new life into the local economy of Medina.

Details of the introductory meeting

The program is scheduled to launch next Tuesday with an introductory meeting to be held in the small conference hall at Taibah University. The meeting will cover the participation process, the program's timeline, and the training and mentorship opportunities available to participants. To ensure the event's smooth operation, specific times have been allocated for attendance

  • For participants: from 5 pm to 6 pm.
  • For participants: from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Through these moves, Taibah University seeks to consolidate its position as a scientific and pioneering beacon, affirming its commitment to empowering young talents and enhancing their role in sustainable national development.
